About this aircraft
This aircrafttag is a very rare piece of aviation history.
ZK-DES was built in 1971 by Hawker Siddeley. Initially this plane was designed and built by Avro until it was taken over by Hawker Siddeley.
This beautiful HS 748 was delivered to Mount Cook Airlines based in Christchurch, New Zealand and named "Tongariro".
Until 1996 it was in service for Mount Cook Airlines. In 1998 Emerald Airways from England took over ZK-DES and ferried it to the UK. In 2009 it was stored in Southend and finally scrapped.
