About this aircraft

Only a handful of aircraft have such an extraordinary look.

This A330 was delivered to Gulf Air in 1999. Its first registration was A4O-KB until 2008. For the first few years, KB flew in standard Gulf Air livery. Since Bahrain has been hosting Formula One races, this aircraft has been painted in the F1 special livery.

HEAVY What "HEAVY" means

Air traffic control sorts aircraft by wake turbulence category: Light, Medium, Heavy, Super. A wide-body like this one is a "Heavy" - and pilots say the word on every radio call.

Our HEAVY edition is cut from overlapping fuselage panels, which makes it roughly three times the thickness of a standard piece. It's noticeably more substantial in the hand.

Scratches are the point

This aluminium spent decades between +40 °C on the ramp and −60 °C at altitude, through rain, hail, de-icing fluid and ultraviolet light. It has dents, scratches and paint wear. That wear is the evidence that it flew - a flawless piece would mean it never did.
